DUAL Press (DP) is an independent publishing imprint established by Alice J Lee to provide a platform for underrepresented creative scholarship and perspectives, and to broaden their reach by disseminating them beyond traditional art, design, and academic spaces. DP publishes books that are innovative visual expressions of substantive creative research, and exercises design — typesetting, layout, visual narrative, etc. — as an equal form of authorship to the text and image content of the publication. Alice J Lee is a second-generation Korean American graphic designer, researcher, and educator who explores alphabetic systems and cultural interconnectedness to foster inclusivity in communication, guiding DP’s mission. She authors books for DP and collaborates with other artists and scholars to translate their research into dynamic publications for widespread dissemination.
