International Interior Design Association — PhotoBash 2017

I was asked to design a pattern as a backdrop for the International Interior Design Association Photobash. This pattern explores a combination of English and Korean letterforms; “Chicago” is spelled out phonetically and repeated. This piece explores the process of romanization and systems of romanization as a visual analogy of translation, as well as the dynamics of foreground and background, positive and negative spaces.
