DUAL Press
DUAL Press (DP) is a publishing extension of Alice J Lee’s practice that broadens the reach of creative research and aims to inspire and engage a wider audience by disseminating these projects beyond traditional art, design, and academic spaces. DP publishes books that are innovative visual expressions of substantive creative research, and exercises design (typesetting, layout, visual narrative, etc) as an equal form of authorship as the text and image content of the publication.
Alice J Lee 이정연 is a second-generation Korean American, graphic designer, researcher, and educator. She researches alphabetic systems, concepts of interconnectedness, and the impacts of cultural imperialism. As a graphic designer, she experiments with the Korean and English alphabets to express in-between cultural experiences to increase inclusivity in our communication systems.
DUAL Press is her new initiative established to provide a platform for underrepresented creative scholarship and critical perspectives. In addition to authoring her own books for DUAL Press, Alice collaborates with other artists and scholars to translate their research into dynamic publications for widespread dissemination.
